My Introduction
Hello. My name is Danielle Dun Moodie and this is my professional Blogspot. I am on here because I want to network with artists and even fellow agents. Let me tell you more about myself first.
I live in Southeast Virginia. I received my bachelors from Virginia Wesleyan in Norfolk. My major was Theatre and my minor was Religious Studies. Now, I am in the process of finishing up my master's degree from Shenandoah University in Arts Management. I am due to finish by December 2009.
What do I want to do? Either work in administration at a cultural arts organization (i.e. theatre, opera house, museum) or represent indepentdent artists who want to showcase their work. I know those are kind of different, but I've worked as a cultural administrator and I liked it. On the other hand, I have interned for a producer who produced off boradway shows. as well represent a few artists (actors, singer, etc.). It seemed like a cool gig to be an agent. I realize that its hard work, but I can do it. Another reason for wanting to dab in artist representation is because I am passionate about the arts and I have met some really talented people who deserve more spotlight. For example, one of my good friends takes REALLY good photos. So good, that I would ask her to take personal pictures for me and I am picky about who takes my pictures.
So, I am putting this blogspot up to network with other agents or aspiring agents. I also want to meet other people who want to work at or with cultural organizations. I would like to hear stories about your journey establish your career, advice, etc. Also, if there is anyone in VA who is wants some help showcasing their talent, contact me on here. I'm new at this, however, working, interning, and going to school has helped me become more knowledgable; I just need to put that knowledge to use.
I want to use this as a networking tool for myself as well as for others.
Also, I'll put up my resume to let you know more of my background. I don't want to bore you on here and if have any questions, just ask.
